GAMEPLAN + TIPS
So how do I go through the game as Zeri?
League is a very dynamic game and you’ll have to make a lot of on the fly decisions, but here is her basic gameplan.
Early Game
Level 1-3
Zeri for the most part is on the weaker side of laners, but she has a deceptively strong level 1. If the enemy puts themselves in a bad position for a fight, don’t be afraid to hit them and trade damage, but for the most part you want to leave that enabling to opponents mistepping and your support landing key engagement abilities.
Her right click essentially gives her a low cooldown ability that costs 0 mana unlike other bot laners. If the matchup allows it, use this to push for level 2 before your lane opponents for a huge boost of power. You want to lead this into a crash on wave 3 and from there you decide for a cheater recall (base and buy cull) or you recontest the wave and push again to help your jungler fight for Scuttle Crab
If the matchup doesn’t allow for a faster level 2, try to hang back and farm as safely as you can.
But the most important goal for laning phase is farming well!
Level 6
There’s not much else to say betweens level 4-5 until you get to level 6. This is when Zeri is at her strongest in lane. At level 6 you have access to her Ultimate (R) and it’s one of the strongest Rs at that point in the game. It gives her a huge surge of stats and can allow you to essentially out brawl the enemy bot lane as long as your support enables it. This is when you want to be looking for kill angles.
But remember to farm!
First Item
You'll mainly be playing safe for the majority of your laning phase, but due note that when you complete your first item, Zeri is also very strong as she has a deceptively powerful first item spike. Look to take advantageous fights here.
You better still be farming!!
Midgame
Here either, bot tower and/or mid tower has fallen. You’ll want to exchange positions with your mid laner (you stay in the midlane and they stay bot) and you’ll want to play off your waves. Essentially shove waves and rotated to good fights. You want to spend the early parts of midgame farming until your 3 items spike.
FARM FARM FARM!!!
3 Items
This is when Zeri is at her strongest. Remember when we talked about how 3 items including IE is one of the strongest spikes in the game? Zeri is arguably the strongest ADC on their 3 item powerspike as well! Use this power to shove waves and rotate to fights. Zeri dominates fights at 3 items so as long as you didn’t fall too far behind, you should be able to drag your team to a strong position.
Keep farming though! :)
Late game (4+ items)
The gameplan in is the same as midgame, but you’re even stronger and teamfights are going to be more rewarding and punishing. However it’s at this stage of the game other hypercarries will begin to shine over Zeri, so do be careful. She still remains a force to be reckoned with and it doesn't mean she stops being a hypercarry!
Still farm, but it becomes less about raw CS numbers and more about tempo. However, more gold = more items!
Tips & Tricks
Here are some small nuggets of knowledge/tips to move you along while you learn Zeri!
- Lead your Q's(place your cursor where the enemy will be rather than currentlyis) for better accuracy
- Your E has slightly longer range if it ends near a wall. Use this to escape or engage from slightly longer distances.
- Learn your W spots and your E wallrides.
- Hop into the practice tool and spend some time pressing E on different walls to get used to it!
